Presentation of Linden

Linden (Lipa) is a minor Slovene nationalist party, founded on 14 Jan 2008 as a splinter of the SNS. In the same year's parliamentary elections it won 19,068 votes for 1.81% of the total, and zero seats.

Ideologically, the party is not particularly distinct from the SNS, though it is somewhat more orthodoxly nationalist - the reason given for the secession was that the SNS leadership had become too willing to cooperate with the center-right government. In practice it appears to have been born after a faction of SNS MPs led by Sašo Pece got sick of party leader Zmago Jelinčič, staged a failed coup, and afterwards bailed out.

The linden tree and in particular the linden leaf are a Slovene national symbol, arising from a tradition of planting a linden tree at the center of village greens, beneath which common business would be conducted. The leaf was also the most popular symbol of the late 1980s independence movement.

Flag of Linden

The party's flag, which apparently exists only in a vertical form, is white, with the party's emblem centered near the upper edge, and a light-blue, sometimes green, field with a wavelike, asymmetrically-curved edge taking up the lower third. Near the lower edge in the colored field is the URL of the party website in white.

Emblem of Linden

The party's emblem is defined in the party's statutes (while the flag is not), as follows:

Article 2.
The symbol of the party consists of a stylized linden leaf in green (C33 M0 Y100 K0, Pantone 390C) with a gray border (K40 C20 M15 Y11, Pantone Cool Grey 8 EC) and the inscription LIPA. The leaf is positioned at an angle of 45 degrees to the right, with the stalk pointing downward. The leaf is partially overlapped by the letters L and I of the word LIPA. The word is blue (M0 Y11 K0 C100, Pantone 313C) and the shadow - mode multiply opacity: 75%, x offset: 1,25 pix, y offset: 0 pix, blur: 0,5 pix, color: black. The inscription LIPA written in capital letters.

The symbol of the party in graphic form with exact specified colors is attached to the statutes of the party.
